I'm trying to hook a RFM69HCW ism ( (Industry, Science and Medicine) radio band) to a Bean+.
Why? RANGE. several hundred meters line of sight is being claimed. I did a test from my study, thru 4 walls including a 2 car garage door and got about 50-75 meters!
I've got everything wired up, the RFM69 library from LowPowerLabs and normal SPI library from Arduino. It is working but is incredibly slow. Sending a packet of only a few bytes to the receiver and it sending an Acknowledgement is taking about 3.5 seconds. But scouring the internet, it seems about 40ms is what would be expected.
Since I am getting data thru, I assume my wiring of the Bean to the RFM chip is correct. That leaves either the RFM69 chip or library or it could also be the SPI interface used between the Bean and the RFM chip.
Any ideas anybody?
